Power Five Episode 2605 Checks In On Top Racers Chasing L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy And Explores Other Top Ten Contenders

FONDA, NY – Four of the top five in JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series points presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply remained the same after the Flying Trowel PPE at Albany-Saratoga, with one driver climbing his way up. With this episode of the Power Five we’ll look at the newest top contender and look at point battles within the top ten racers currently in point standings.

Let’s start with driver names that have been consistent in the top five point standings thus far in season three beginning with point leader Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT.  Not only did Scarborough retain the point lead but Canaan, CT racers Chris Crane Jr. and Connor Crane, along with Round Lake, NY racer Nick Brundige all remained top five. So, who’s the new guy?

Ballston Spa, NY racer Derrick McGrew Jr. took advantage of a hot streak to earn consecutive top 10 finishes catapulting him into 4th place in point standings just 22 back from the lead. McGrew is red hot in the Capital District right now with wins at Albany-Saratoga and Glen Ridge racing his Next Generation Roofing, West End Towing & Repair, and Herron Reality number 26 Bicknell race rod.

With that being said, let’s take a look just outside the power five at some racers just outside looking in starting with Middlegrove, NY racer Taylor Wason. He’s had a pair of top 10 finishes, which has helped the 2024 champion climb back into title contention racing his CWS Construction, Lenihan Paving, and Lake Auto Parts number 07w Bicknell racing chassis.

Gansevoort, NY racer Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald fell from 4th to 7th in points, but is still very much in the championship picture. Same with Bolton Landing, NY racer Craig Wholey who started the CDRA point season red hot, but slumped just a bit over the past couple races though remains in contention.

Next racer up in point standings currently 9th overall is Saratoga Springs, NY racer Michael Ballestero. In his first season chasing the CDRA title, Ballestero has climbed back into the top 10 after a tough start to the championship chase driving his Stone’s Pharmacy, M&J Construction, and Generations Auto number 27 Bicknell racing chassis. He’s looking to climb further up the standings.

Last driver in today’s special edition Power Five, is Chad Gregory of Clifton Park, NY. Gregory is in the NOTY conversation and looks solid in his first season touring with CDRA. It hasn’t been easy for Gregory, as he’s still young in his Sportsman Modified journey, but he’s mixing it up with some top talents from CDRA and DIRTcar alike.

Other racers just outside the top 10 include CDRA regulars Savannah Laflair, Brent Warren, defending champion Tim Hartman Jr., William August, and Jordan Hill. All who have an opportunity to reach the top 10 in points by seasons end.

“We’re coming up on our second PPE at Glen Ridge, which if it’s as good as last seasons event fans will be treated to a really good race. The Ridge plays an important role in our series, because it’s vastly different than Albany-Saratoga or Lebanon Valley. It’s a bull ring so drivers are up on the wheel and in traffic from the drop of the green to the finish,” said CDRA competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: The series returns to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday August 9, 2026, for another showdown with DIRTcar Sportsman racing’s finest. It’s the Rumble at the Ridge PPE, which is also the beginning of the DIRTcar Sportsman Fall Championship Series. Get your popcorn ready.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to CVRA days. Each season consists of a diverse schedule based around storied dirt tracks in the Capitaland such as Albany-Saratoga, Lebanon Valley, and Glen Ridge. Drivers who participate have the opportunity to earn hardware and monetary rewards for their efforts.

Defending CDRA Champion Tim Hartman Jr. Wins Second Consecutive Flying Trowel Points Paying Event At Albany-Saratoga Speedway On Stan Da’ Man Night

07/24/26: Tim Hartman Jr. celebrates his second consecutive Flying Trowel 32 PPE victory in G&R Motorsports Victory Lane at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. (Jeremy McGaffin Photo | CDRA)

MALTA, NY – It was fitting on a night celebrating fathers who introduce their sons to dirt track racing, defending JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply champion Tim Hartman Jr. earned his second consecutive Stan Da’ Man Flying Trowel 32 victory.

By the way of a redraw to set the top 12 starters, two of the most winning drivers in Sportsman Modified history at Albany-Saratoga Michael Ballestero of Saratoga Springs, NY and Tim Hartman Jr. of Glenville, NY would lead the starting field to the green with Hartman grabbing the early race lead.

Ballestero racing his Stone’s Pharmacy 27 was left to battle early on with Montgomery, NY racer Cole Hentschel in his West Coast Grage Doors 3h and Johnsonville, NY racer David Barnanowski in his Ghetto Child Motorsports 112.

Early on it was clear that 2024 CDRA champion Taylor Wason of Middlegrove, NY was going to have a strong run in his CWS Construction 07. The ‘middlegrove missle’ who has a weekly win to his credit at Malta this season was high, wide, and handsome on the cushion.

By the one third mark of the event, current L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy contender Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT was working his way forward in his Central Vermont Motorcycles number 11vt. Scarborough was inside the top five and looking for more.

Newcomer Of The Year contenders and teammates Chad Gregory of Clifton Park, NY and Derrick McGrew Jr. of Ballston Spa, NY were racing forward looking to crack the top five. Both racers carry Next Generation Roofing sponsorship, and are having solid seasons with the CDRA series.

Just past the midpoint of the event, brothers Crane were starting to flex their muscle after starting deep in the field. Chris Crane Jr. who started 22nd with his Greenacres Landscaping 711 had raced his way inside the top 10 bringing his Canaan, CT brother Connor Crane with him.

Late in the event Scarborough and Wason would close on leader Hartman to make it interesting over the final handful of laps, but TH2 wasn’t going to be denied and picked up the $1,820 to win Flying Trowel on Stan Da’ Man night leading all 32 laps.

Scarborough crossed the line second with Wason third, Derrick McGrew Jr. fourth, and David Baranowski fifth.

Rounding out the top 10 were Chris Crane Jr., Connor Crane, Daniel Grignon, Bodie Marks, and Michael Ballestero.

“It’s about time. Felt like I forgot how to do this here. We’ve been struggling here, but it’s cool to get it figured out on a night like this (for Stan) and we’ve won this race before, so it’s nice to win it again and take home some extra money. That’ll make it a little bit nicer,” said Tim Hartman Jr. in G&R Motorsports Victory Lane.

Mia Meehan asked one final question of TH2, if he thought he was on the upswing after the Flying Trowel 32 win and he replied simply, “We better be.”

CDRA NOTES: Three notes to takeaway from the Flying Trowel starts with Tim Hartman Jr. finally finding victory lane in Malta. TH2, who is also the defending CDRA champion, had been shut out of victory lane until Friday when he won the Flying Trowel 32 PPE on Stan Da’ Man night.

2024 CDRA champion Taylor Wason was looking for a podium finish, and he got it. He and his team never give up, work hard, and overcome adversity, but before the Flying Trowel his best PPE finish this season was 6th. Now, he has a podium finish to his credit and has climbed to 6th in points.

Despite Chris Crane Jr. easily earning Hard Charger, it’s Derrick McGrew Jr. who’s quietly making noise. D-McGrew II is keeping pressure on Crane for the NOTY and earned a solid 4th place finish after starting 12th. Both racers are top five in point standings and top contenders for the NOTY.

CDRA TITLE WATCH: Our top three title contenders start with Bradford, VT racer Joey Scarborough. He started 8th in the Flying Trowel, took his time, and at the end was nearly able to pull off a win. Scarborough is the kind of consistent this season that wins championships.

Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. is keeping the pressure on the point leader. After starting 22nd he stormed to a solid 6th place finish earning the Big Red One Herrington Farms Hard Charger for the Flying Trowel PPE. He’s only seven points out of the top spot.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: CDRA returns to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday August 9, 2026 for another showdown with DIRTcar Sportsman racing’s finest. It’s the Rumble at the Ridge PPE, which is also the beginning of the DIRTcar Sportsman Fall Championship Series. Get your popcorn ready.

Power Five Episode 2604 Tracks Top CDRA Contenders For L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy Ahead Of Flying Trowel PPE At Albany-Saratoga Speedway This Friday

07/21/26: Power Five racer Nick Brundige is fresh off a weekly racing win at Albany-Saratoga heading into the Flying Trowel 32 this week for CDRA series action. (Bill McGaffin Photo | CDRA)

MALTA, NY – Friday night route 9 comes to life with Stan Da’ Man Night at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, which includes the Flying Trowel CDRA PPE. Current power five racers Joey Scarborough, Connor Crane, Chris Crane Jr., Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald, and Nick Brundige will be in action chasing their first L.D. Bossman Championship series trophy.

Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT leads all title contenders after three PPE’s with 402 points with his Central Vermont Motorcycles, Interstate Batteries, and Howe Center Auto number 11VT Bicknell Racing Chassis. This season Scarborough has not finished worse than 7th and has a win back in April at the great race place in the Spring Shootout.

Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. is chasing the title and NOTY wheeling his Greenacres Landscaping, Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment, and SABCO Performance 711 Bicknell Racing Chassis. Crane, who is currently second in points with 399, hasn’t finished worse than 6th this season and has won a PPE in each CDRA season thus far.

Kid Cushion Connor Crane of Canaan, CT is red hot coming off a big CDRA PPE win at The Ridge racing his Greenacres Landscaping, Laurelbrook Natural Resources, and Proper Connections number 711x Bicknell Racing Chassis. Little Brother Connor is also chasing the title and NOTY this season, which he’s third in standings with 392 points.

Gansevoort, NY racer Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald may not have found G&R Motorsports victory lane yet with CDRA, but he’s consistent enough to be in both the title and NOTY conversations driving his S&S Mobile RV Repair, Winchell Construction & Roll-Offs, and Helderberg Excavation number 88 Bicknell Racng Chassis. Fitz is currently fourth in points with 392 with a best finish of 5th at LVS.

Rounding out the current power five is Round Lake, NY racer Nick Brundige who has really excelled the past two seasons on tour driving his Capital District Towing, Miller Motorsports, and Rocky Photography number 916 Bicknell Racing Chassis. Brundige is currently 5th in standings with 390 points, with his best series finish this season being 4th during the Spring Shootout in Malta.

Drivers just outside the power five, but well within the title conversation include Derrick McGrew Jr., Craig Wholey, 2024 series champion Taylor Wason, Michael Ballestero, and Chad Gregory. After all, there are only 57 points separating 1st from 10th in standings.

“Flying Trowel is the second of three PPEs in Malta and this one is going to be big. Right now, it looks like we’re going to have a brand-new champion, and this extra distance race is going to play a part in determining who that may be, because it’s the start of three consecutive extra distance races. 32, 40, then 35 over the next 3 races,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

Kid Cushion Connor Crane Earns Popular CDRA Montgomery County Brawl Victory On DIRTcar East Championship Night At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park

07/05/26: Connor Crane has reason to smile after winning Montgomery County Brawl DIRTcar East / CDRA points paying event at Glen Ridge on Sunday. (Bill McGaffin Photo | CDRA)

FULTONVILLE, NY – Make no mistake about it, Connor Crane scored another win for the Capital District’s best during a DIRTcar East Region Series race after winning the Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge on Sunday night. For Crane the $2,000 victory was his second CDRA racing win tying big brother Chris Crane Jr. in the win column.

Brewerton, NY racer Riley Rogala and Canaan, CT racer Connor Crane would lead the 30-car field to the green flag, with Crane jumping out to an early lead. Behind them track powerhouse Zach Buff of Amsterdam, NY was battling with Round Lake, NY racer Nick Brundige and Schoharie, NY racer Camron Hotaling.

By lap 10 Rogala took his shot finding room under Crane to take the top spot. Rogala had been bad fast all evening long and even earned the J-Tees Screen Printing Fast Timer award after time trial groups with a 14.580. He bested Fort Covington, NY racer Cory Castell by .001 who posted a time of 14.581. Other fast timers in their groups were Nick Brundige and Camron Hotailing.

Back to the action we find Crane starting to close in on the top spot. Known as Kid Cushion, he had to abandon the high-wide-and-handsome racing style for life on the bottom. After a late race restart Crane was able to take his shot, finding room under Rogala to re-take the lead.

From there Crane had smooth sailing except a dicey moment in lap traffic which allowed Zach Buff to close in, but the Amsterdam, NY standout would have to settle for second. This was Crane’s race to win. Buff finished second, Gloversville, NY racer Tanner Warner drove from 15th to 3rd, Rogola ended up fourth, and Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. rounded out the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 finishers in the JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA points paying event presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply were Derrick McGrew Jr., Joey Scarborough, Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald, Bryan Preville, and Bodie Marks.

“Thank you so much. I really had to be patient and take my shot when it presented itself, and it did. This is amazing,” said Connor Crane in a phone conversation with CDRA competition director Rob Hazer immediately following his big win.

CDRA NOTES: Three notes include drivers making impressive runs starting with Gloversville, NY racer Tanner Warner. He drove from 15th to 3rd during the 40-lap main event earning him a podium finish. That’s an impressive +12 for Warner.

Ballston Spa, NY racer Derrick McGrew Jr. started 12th and quickly moved to the front. He’d spend time battling for position inside the top five before ultimately finishing 6th for a +6. Solid run for the CDRA title contender and NOTY hopeful.

Final note goes out to a pair of CDRA title contenders Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT and Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald of Gansevoort, NY. These drivers were elbows up from deep in the field starting 22nd and 20th and finishing 7th and 8th. That’s +15 for Scarborough and +12 for Fitzgerald.

CDRA TITLE WATCH: Three points of notes in the chase for the L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy start with Montgomery County Brawl winner Connor Crane who closed the point gap to leader Joey Scarborough after his trip to G&R Motorsports Victory Lane. Speaking of Scarbrough, the newly crown DIRTcar East Region champ is clinging to the CDRA point lead after three races. Finally, there are only 12 points separating the top five in point standings. This battle will come down to the finale.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Next stop for the stars and cars of the CDRA Racing Sportsman Modified series is a return to the Great Race Place Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Friday July 24th for the Flying Trowel 32 on a special Stan Da’ Man night of racing. Get your popcorn ready and don’t miss it.

Looking Ahead: CDRA Racers Are Headed To Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday For A Montgomery County Brawl With DIRTcar East Sportsman Series Racers

FULTONVILLE, NY – JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA racing series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply rolls into Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday July 5th to celebrate America’s 250th birthday weekend with a Montgomery County Brawl with the DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified series racers.

Sunday marks the first of two points paying events at the fastest quarter mile on dirt, both of which are in conjunction with DIRTcar Sportsman Series racing. It also marks the beginning of a busy month for CDRA point hopefuls chasing the L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy, as the series has three races in 27 days through July and early August.

2026 will be the third running of the Montgomery County Brawl, and the fifth CDRA event at the Ridge in series history. Sunday’s show will feature the DIRTcar Sportsman Series format with timed sessions to lineup heats, a redraw for top qualifiers out of heat races, and if need be LCQ’s to set the field for 40 laps of A-Main feature racing.

There have been two winners visiting G&R Motorsports victory lane in the Montgomery County Brawl including Cody Ochs (2024) and Taylor Wason (2025). No driver has won twice, also no driver has finished on the podium twice in the Montgomery County Brawl.

There have been 70 laps of competition in the Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for the CDRA racing series, with only the previous winners Ochs and Wason leading laps. History has shown that for one driver, dominance is key to securing victory in the Brawl.

In the previous Montgomery County Brawl Taylor Wason took the rain delayed event win. He grabbed the lead on the opening lap and never looked back to claim his first CDRA series victory on August 10, 2025.

“We’re fresh off a crown jewel at Lebanon, which is a big half mile. Now we head to a wicked fast quarter mile where drivers are elbows up from start to finish. We expect a pretty good crop of talented racers, and we currently have 18 CDRA point regulars with perfect attendance. The brawl could be the race to change the trajectory of a racers’ season,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Next stop for CDRA Racing Sportsman Modified series racers is Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday July 5th for the Montgomery County Brawl. The program also features the DIRTcar Sportsman East Series. Two series, one show, and multiple storylines across the division landscape. Get your popcorn ready and don’t miss it..

Only Nine Points Separate Top Five Newcomer Of The Year Contenders Heading To Glen Ridge For Montgomery County Brawl On Sunday

07/01/26: Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald trails NOTY leader Chris Crane Jr. by a single point headed to Glen Ridge Sunday July 5th. (Jimmy B. Photo | LVS)

FULTONVILLE, NY – Sunday marks the first of three cross promotions where JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA racing title hopefuls presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply collide with DIRTcar Sportsman Modified title contenders starting at Glen Ridge for the Montgomery County Brawl. These hopefuls include NOTY contenders led by Canaan, CT young gun Chris Crane Jr.

Chris Crane Jr. is new to the NOTY conversation, because he’s new to full-time racing with CDRA. Crane has raced with series regulars in the past and even won some PPE’s driving his Greenacres Landscaping, Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment, and SABCO Performance 711 Bicknell. He leads all NOTY contenders with a pair of top 10 finishes to his credit this season.

Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald has been in the conversation before, but not as a series full-time regular. This season the Gansevoort, NY racer is only one point out of top NOTY honors with his S&S Mobile RV Repair Inc., Winchell Construction, and Heldenberg Construction number 88 Bicknell. Fitz had a pair of top ten finishes himself this season heading into Glen Ridge this coming Sunday.

Ballston Spa, NY hot shoe Derrick McGrew Jr. is red hot in the Capital District riding a 3-race winning streak including two in a row at Glen Ridge, where the Montgomery County Brawl happens this Sunday. His Next Generation Roofing, West End Towing & Repair, and Herron Realty number 26 Bicknell has a pair of crew chiefs helping hopefully guide him to a NOTY honor this season.

When the ‘Crane Train’ pulls out of Canaan, CT it brings along kid cushion Connor Crane and his Greenacres Landscaping, Laurelbrook Natural Resources, and Proper Connections number 711x Bicknell. Crane matched his big bro with a Massive win to close out last season, but this year is his first as a full-time regular with the CDRA racing series. He’s in the NOTY running as projected.

Warrensburg, NY lady racer Jordan Hill is not only just nine points out from NOTY honors, but she’s also the top Rated Rookie so far in season three. Hill has her Relia-Tech Auto Services, Rounds Paving, and Witz Roofing number 51 Bicknell top 10 in overall points, as well as top five in NOTY standings. She’s ready for the challenge Ridge racing presents CDRA title contenders on Sunday.

Other notable NOTY contenders for Season Three include Cam VanZandt, Savannah Laflair, Chad Gregory, Brent Warren, and Raelin Dunham. Of these drivers VanZandt, Gregory, Warren, and Dunham are eligible for the new Rated Rookie of the Year award that differs from the NOTY slightly. NOTY is for newcomers to series racing with CDRA. Rated Rookies are new to touring with no previous experience and/or new to the division in general such as moving up from Limited.

TOP FIVE NOTY STANDINGS:
1) 122 – Chris Crane Jr.
2) 121 – Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald
3) 116 – Derrick McGrew Jr.
4) 115 – Connor Crane
5) 113 – Jordan Hill

TOP FIVE RATED ROOKIES:
1) Jordan Hill (10th Overall)
2) Cam VanZandt (12th Overall)
3) Chad Gregory (15th Overall)
4) Brent Warren (17th Overall)
5) Raelin Dunham (18th Overall)

Power Five Episode 2603 Shines Light On Top CDRA Contenders For L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy Ahead Of PPE At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park

FONDA, NY – With the Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge brings busy season for JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series racers presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply. Currently 18 racers have perfect attendance and will clash with DIRTcar East Series racers Sunday July 5th at the fastest quarter mile on dirt. Some things have changed since our last look at the top five.

Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT kept his point lead with a solid top five finish in Mr. Crate Track USA driving his Central Vermont Motorcycles, Interstate Batteries, and Howe Center Auto number 11VT Bicknell Racing Chassis. Scarborough heads to the Ridge as both the DIRTcar East Region and CDRA Sportsman Modified point leader never having raced a series PPE at Glen Ridge before.

Craig Wholey elevated himself to second in CDRA standings with a strong run at the Valley. The Bolton Landing, NY racer is a wild card having never wheeled his Rounds Paving, North Country Heliflite, and KLC Property Enhancement DKM Cyclone Chassis in a PPE at the fastest quarter mile on dirt. He could be this season’s surprise contender for a ticket to title town.

Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. may have slid back one spot in point standings, but the NOTY contender is still only five points from the lead racing his Greenacres Landscaping, Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment, and SABCO Performance 711 Bicknell Racing Chassis. Crane is another driver who has never raced a PPE at the Ridge, but plans to change that next Sunday July 5th.

Tim Hartman Jr. catapulted himself from 10th to 4th in points after winning an instant classic at Lebanon Valley in Mr. Crate Track USA. The Glenville, NY racer sports his Kickfly’s Cannabis, MRP Companies, and Bemiss Trucking number 22 DKM Cyclone Chassis looking for another top five run in CDRA points paying events including the Montgomery County Brawl.

For the past two seasons, Round Lake, NY racer Nick Brundige has competed with CDRA racing at a high level. So far through 2026 he’s doing it again keeping his Capital District Towing, Miller Motorsports, and DE Designs number 12 Bicknell Racing Chassis near the top of standings. After earning last year’s NOTY award, Brundige heads to the Ridge where he earned a top five finish.

Glen Ridge hosts DIRTcar East Region Sportsman Modifieds, which doubles as a CDRA points paying event Sunday July 5th. Since 2024 the score has been track regulars 1, CDRA racers 1, DIRTcar East racers 0. Montgomery County Brawl will certainly change the points landscape for two different regional tours. Question is, who might park it in G&R Motorsports victor lane?

“The race at Glen Ridge Sunday will be fun, especially from a storyline standpoint. We’re not just collecting points, we’re telling a story of championship hopeful racers over the summer months. This event is the first that combines two series storylines into one night of competitive Sportsman Modified racing. I hope the racers enjoy it as much as I do as a fan watching it all unfold,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

Get your popcorn ready and don’t miss it.

WEST LEBANON, NY – Champ was doing champion things, as Tim Hartman Jr. had fans on their feet and off their seat with a daring last lap cushion tickling pass on Craig Wholey to win his second Mr. Crate Track USA title in an instant CDRA racing Sportsman Modified classic at Lebanon Valley Tuesday night. Owen Lewis joined Wholey and Hartman Jr. on the podium at the checkered flag.

East Nassau, NY racer Owen Lewis and Bolton Landing, NY racer Craig Wholey would lead the 28-car starting field to the green flag with Lewis jumping ahead early. Wholey was left to fend off competition in the form of two-time Mr. Crate Track USA winner Michael Sabia of Easton, CT and Gansevoort, NY racer Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald.

By the one third mark, defending JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply champion Tim Hartman Jr. of Glenville, NY had made his way forward from his eighth starting spot to challenge for a top five. Following Hartman through was L.D. Bossman Championship contender Joey Scarborough of Brandon, VT who started 12th.

Brothers Crane, Chris Jr. and Connor of Canaan, CT were having a family fun day racing with one another making a Greenacres Landscaping sandwich out of East Greenbush, NY racer and valley hot shoe AJ Albreada. 2025 NOTY award winner Nick Brundige of Round Lake, NY and another valley top gun Connor Prokop of Middleburgh, NY were also battling for top 10 positions.

By lap 19 Wholey had caught Lewis and began pressuring for the lead. While they battled the champ began closing the gap. Lewis seemingly had the line to win, until he didn’t.

As they approached some lap traffic Lewis was racing hard with a flat left front, Wholey got a look at Hartman’s nose with two laps to go, and TH2, who won this race last season, was starting to really rip the lip. And with one lap to go both Wholey and Hartman slip by Lewis.

Wholey sets it up heading into turn three, with Hartman swinging it high, wide, and handsome, which led to a drag race to the checkered with Tim Hartman Jr. just edging out Craig Wholey for the exiting last lap, last corner, instant classic victory and his second Mr. Crate Track USA title. Lewis held on for third followed by Joey Scarborough and Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald rounding out the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 finishers were Chris Crane Jr., Nick Brundige, Connor Crane, Michael Sabia, and AJ Albreada.

“Traffic kind of got me close. Then they started battling in front of me and I didn’t realize Owen had a left front flat, so I center punched him off turn two and about wrecked all three of us. So, I’m sorry about that, but it was an awesome race,” Tim Hartman Jr. said to Rich Vleck in G&R Motorsports Victory Lane.

The champ concluded with saying, “It’s almost an advantage being in third, because they’re not expecting you. You get to figure out what you have to do, and fortunately I picked the right lane at the right time and got it done.”

CDRA NOTES: Three notes include drivers making impressive runs starting with Joey Scarborough who started 12th and finished 4th. That’s enough to earn him the Herrington Farms Big Red One Hard Charger for the event.

Series regular and L.D. Bossman championship contender Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald also made a little noise. Not only is ‘Mikey Wags’ in the title mix, he’s also in NOTY contention and earned the Newcomer Of The Race award for Mr. Crate Track USA finishing strong in 5th.

Final note goes out to the ladies holding it down during their first CDRA touring season. NOTY contender and top-Rated Rookie Jordan Hill earned a respective 16th place finish at a track she’s only race on once or twice. She led fellow lady racers Savannah Laflair and Raelin Dunham who both made solid laps gaining experience at Lebanon Valley.

CDRA TITLE WATCH: Three points of note in the chase for the L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy start with defending series, race, and track champion Tim Hartman Jr. After a modest 10th place run for TH2 he showed everyone exactly why the ticket to title town goes through him. Hartman has climbed from 10th to 4th in point standings.

Spring Shootout winner and point leader Joey Scarborough held on to the top spot with a solid hard charger finishing in 4th during Mr. Crate Track USA. He’ll take the point lead into Glen Ridge in July for the Montgomery County Brawl against a very talented field of Capital District racers and DIRTcar Sportsman East Series best.

Last title points to note, Craig Wholey after two events is a bonified title contender and quietly has himself second in points just 2-points behind Scarbrough. As a matter of fact, it’s wild to know the top 10 racers are only separated by 27 points. Even wilder, the top five are only separated by 8 points. We have four points paying events left to watch this dramatic title chase unfold.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Next stop for the stars and cars of the CDRA Racing Sportsman Modified series is at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday July 5th for the Montgomery County Brawl. The program also features the DIRTcar Sportsman East Series and a talented group of racers looking for notoriety. Two series, one show, and bad ass racers everywhere. Get your popcorn ready and don’t miss it.

Looking Ahead: Lebanon Valley Speedway Mr. Crate Track USA Crown Jewel CDRA Event Sends L.D. Bossman Contenders Through Defending Champion Tim Hartman Jr. Stomping Grounds

WEST LEBANON, NY – The 2025 JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series points championship presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply rolls into West Lebanon, NY Tuesday June 16th for Mr. Crate Track USA. It’s a ‘crown jewel’ PPE for racers on a huge night of racing in the valley of speed which features the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds annual Mr. Dirt program.

Mr. Crate Track USA has a storied history at Lebanon Valley Speedway playing a pivotal role in series point championship battles, with this summer’s PPE serving as one of two ‘crown jewel’ events on the CDRA schedule. These events are essentially valued at double the points for racers towards the L.D. Bossman championship trophy chase.

2026 brings with it the fourth visit for CDRA to Lebanon Valley Speedway with its third Mr. Crate Track USA PPE. Prior editions of the event were run under the KOD banner. For Season Three, the points paying event will include a draw-redraw format that features Saratoga Masonry Supply qualifying heats, LCQ’s, and a 25-lap main event.

Previous winners who have parked it on the legendary front stretch at Lebanon in G&R Motorsports victory lane include Michael Sabia (2017 & 2015), Tim Hartman Jr. (2025), Rain (2024), Rob Maxon (2018), and Scott Duell (2016). Sabia is currently the only driver to win the event championship twice, which could change Tuesday night.

There were 140 laps of Mr. Crate Track USA competition so far, with 12 different drivers leading laps. Easton, CT racer Michael Sabia has the most laps led in event history with 42. His next closest active Sportsman Modified competitor is defending race and CDRA series champion Tim Hartman Jr. who has 13 laps led in event history.

In the previous season’s edition of Mr. Crate Track USA, it was Valley regular AJ Albreada of East Greenbush, NY who led early until CDRA champion and track dominator Tim Hartman Jr. took the lead and never looked back earning his first event championship on August 28, 2025.

“This race is going to be big. It’s the first ever crown jewel for our series, meaning basically a double points show. It’ll have a lot of championship implications, but also Newcomer Of The Year contenders and Rated Rookies will be vying for their share of the notoriety and accolades. The valley is always that track we visit that can change everything,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

CDRA racing invites drivers, crews, and fans alike to Lebanon Valley Speedway Tuesday June 16th for a night of racing guaranteed to entertain including Sportsman Modified, Pro Stock, and featuring the headlining Super DIRTcar Series shower of Big Block Power with the very best Modified racers in a must see event of the summer in the Capital District.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: After Lebanon Valley Speedway, CDRA turns attention to the fastest quarter mile on dirt, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday July 5th for a DIRTcar East Region series race that also serves as a points paying event for a Montgomery County Brawl.

McGrew Jr., Wagner-Fitzgerald, and Laflair Lead Newcomer Of The Year Contenders Early In 2026 CDRA Racing Season

FONDA, NY – Drivers eagerly await an opportunity to earn JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series points presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply Tuesday June 16th at Lebanon Valley Speedway during the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified Mr. Dirt program. With one PPE in the history books, there are five dynamic young talents chasing NOTY honors in 2026.

Derrick McGrew Jr. of Ballston Spa, NY currently sits fifth in overall CDRA points, but leads all NOTY contenders driving his Next Generation Roofing, West End Towing & Repair, and Herron Realty number 26 Bicknell. McGrew has a pair of top five finishes in series PPE’s and has improved his final points standings each year going from 15th overall in 2024 to 8th overall in 2025.

Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald from Gansevoort, NY has followed a similar path with his S&S Mobile RV Repair Inc., Winchell Construction, and Heldenberg Construction number 88 Bicknell. Mikey Waggs is currently seventh in CDRA points a mere two behind McGrew Jr. in the NOTY battle. Fitzgerald has three top 10 finishes to his credit in series PPE’s and 10th overall in 2025.

Jordan, NY racer Savannah Laflair has had the most improvement of all NOTY contenders over three seasons of CDRA racing. She has qualified for every PPE she entered racing her 13th Hour Rising Haunted Hayride, Mohawk Northeast, and Happy Days Drive-In number 16X Troyer. She’s eighth in points after earning both Newcomer Of The Race and Hard Charger awards back in April.

Warrensburg, NY racer Jordan Hill has had some shining moments thus far in 2026, including a respectable top 15 finish in the PPE opener with her Relia-Tech Auto Services, Rounds Paving, and Witz Roofing number 51 Bicknell. Jordan just moved up this season from Limited Sportsman challenging herself to series racing with CDRA and weekly competition at the great race place.

Rounding out top five NOTY contenders so far in 2026 is Lee, MA racer Cam VanZandt. He too is moving up from Limited to a rather ambitious Sportsman Modified schedule this season with his VanZandt Water & Sewer Construction, LB Corporation, and Loring Property Services number 313 Bicknell. Cam is 19th overall heading to the valley of speed for Mr. Crate Track USA event.

Other drivers in the mix for the NOTY this season include Bodie Marks, Chad Gregory, Katrina LeClaire, Brent Warren, and Raelin Dunham. These drivers all met the Newcomer criteria with CDRA in that they pre-registered for full-time series status, have never won the series title or multiple races, and have not raced full-time last season or won a Big Block Modified event.

“There’s an incredible mix of young talent, and veterans in the mix for the NOTY. We always call it our points battle, within the war. They’re looking for the G&R Motorsports Newcomer Of The Year and one of them may be outstanding enough to win the L.D. Bossman Championship Trophy as well. It’ll be fun to keep an eye on for sure,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

TOP FIVE NOTY STANDINGS:
1) 65 – Chris Crane Jr.
2) 62 – Derrick McGrew Jr.
3) 61 – Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald

1) 90 – Jordan Hill
2) 85 – Cam VanVandt
3) 76 – Bodie Marks
4) 75 – Chad Gregory
5) 55 – Katrina LaClaire

STORY EDITED MAY 28, 2026: After careful consideration to all drivers, CDRA chose to further clarify eligibility for Newcomer Of The Year, simplify the language, and create an accompanying Rated Rookie award. Simply put NOTY is for any driver, regardless of previous experience, who is new to CDRA. Rated Rookie is for any driver new to the division of Sportsman Modified and/or CDRA racing. However, one driver may not be awarded both. This will be the norm going forward from this date. Any questions don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your cooperation, understanding, and patience as we strive to do what is right, and best for all who choose to race with CDRA.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Series racers head to the valley of speed, Lebanon Valley Speedway, for the first Crown Jewel event of the season. Mr. Crate Track USA takes place on Tuesday June 16th as part of the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modified special. The Sportsman Modified will be going 25-laps in the A-Main with a draw-redraw format..
