2026 CDRA Newcomer Of The Year Contenders Stacked With Talent From Capital District and Vermont Chasing An L.D. Bossman Trophy and NOTY Honors

FONDA, NY – It’s not easy being the new driver in the field. Earning respect requires results fueled by effort, passion, and desire. For the incoming Newcomer Of The Year contenders chasing CDRA series hardware, their goals seem achievable. Show up, qualify, and finish every lap. If those goals are achieved they could vie for the L.D. Bossman and the NOTY this summer.

JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply has a pre-registered crop of NOTY contenders that declared their intent on racing full-time in 2026 with the tour by using the online driver registration tool. There’s plenty of info to dive into taking a look at these racers beginning with Lebanon Valley Speedway racer AJ Albreada.

This East Greenbush, NY racer was impressive in the valley of speed from his first green flag to his last checkered flag in 2025. He started the season winning two Limited races before moving up to Sportsman Modified where he had 13 top 10 finishes, 6 top 5 finishes, and a dub in 13 races. That landed him 7th in points, but if he ran a full season this talented shoe could’ve been on the podium.

Another NOTY contender from the valley of speed is young Cam VanZandt from Lee, MA. His schedule for 2026 is ambitious and includes racing at Albany-Saratoga, Lebanon Valley, DIRTcar tour, and CDRA. In 12 races last summer Cam had 11 top 10 finishes, 4 top 5’s, and 2 trips to victory lane. He’s young, hungry, and he’s not afraid of a challenge. Watch out for this kid.

Speaking of young guys who can park it as the kids say, keep an eye on Scotia, NY racer Bodie Marks. He’s another teen competitor with a stacked schedule for 2026 that also includes racing CDRA. He’ll contend for the NOTY and turned heads last season at Malta. In 16 races he had 14 top 10 finishes, 12 top 5’s, and 3 wins in Limited, and he was impressive in the Great Crate Classic.

Let’s stay at Albany-Saratoga for a moment and talk about one of the multiple lady racers who is not only moving up from Limited to Sportsman Modified, but challenging herself to the CDRA tour in 2026. We’re talking about Warrensburg, NY racer Jordan Hill. She had 11 top 10 finishes, 6 top 5’s, and a dub last season. Now, she’s ready to earn respect as not just a lady racer, but a racecar driver.

The buzz is real for Vermont racers coming to mix it up with CDRA’s finest starting with Salisbury, VT wheel man Brent Warren. He made it known he’s chasing the six-race tour through the Capital District while calling Albany-Saratoga his Friday night home. Last season in the green mountain state he had 6 top 10 finishes, 4 top 5’s, and a win. His first touring effort could land him the NOTY.

Bomoseen, VT racer Katrina Leclaire is ready to lead the lady contingent chasing CDRA hardware. She’s a fan favorite in the green mountain state who’s looking to make her name known in the Capital District. Last season she racked up 10 top 10 finishes, 8 top 5’s, and a win racing Saturday night weekly. Moving up to Sportsman Modified and touring for 2026 may result in a NOTY.

Another popular lady racer who will be a welcomed addition to CDRA is Queensbury, NY racer Raelin Dunham. Guiding her young career is Raelin’s father Paul Dunham Jr. who was a successful racer himself. She spent time last summer racing Novice, but instead of moving into Limited, which is another form of novice, she’s going Sportsman Modified touring and is plenty capable. Last summer she had 12 top 10 finishes, 8 top 5’s, and 2 wins finishing 4th in Saturday night points.

Last but not least, pre-registered racer from Gloversville, NY EJ Gallup is a NOTY contender. Gallup has a busy schedule preventing serious weekly commitment. He frequents Utica Rome and Glen Ridge, but a six-race series schedule suits him. Last season he entered a pair of CDRA events and scored two top 15 finishes. EJ has the skillset to vie for the NOTY honors in a stacked field.

More Newcomer Of The Year contenders may emerge as the season progresses this summer, but one thing is already certain; whomever claims the NOTY honors will have earned it. This will again be a storyline frequently talked about alongside the chase for the L.D. Bossman championship trophy. The most common advice for young racers or NOTY contenders; stick with it. Finish.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: The season starts April 17, 2026, at Albany-Saratoga Speedway for CDRA racers. 25 laps for $1,300 to win on Malta’s 61st season opener. Also, on the race card are Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds and DIRTcar Pro Stocks. Limited Sportsman drivers are welcome to attempt to qualify and race in the Spring Shootout.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to CVRA days. Each season consists of a diverse schedule based around storied dirt tracks in the Capitaland such as Albany-Saratoga, Lebanon Valley, and Glen Ridge. Drivers who participate have the opportunity to earn hardware and monetary rewards for their efforts.

Pair Of Crown Jewel Events Highlight Another Stacked Six Race Summer Series With CDRA Racing Visiting Albany-Saratoga, Lebanon Valley, and Glen Ridge

FONDA, NY – When Capital District tracks Albany-Saratoga, Glen Ridge, and Lebanon Valley roar to life this spring part of their racing season will include points paying events on the road to crown the 2026 JAM Performance CDRA racing series points champion presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply.

With only six points paying events each summer, every lap of every race matters. In Season Three (2026) something new to the points structure makes one third of the aforementioned six races worth ‘crown jewel’ points where two races offer drivers an opportunity to score more points.

Starting and ending the CDRA points season at the great race place Albany-Saratoga Speedway was something late track promoter Lyle DeVore enjoyed. Throw in a tribute to his father Stan Da’ Man and drivers have a trio of action-packed races on a high speed 4/10-mile dirt track gem located in Malta, NY.

On April 17, 2026, CDRA kicks off the points chase during Albany-Saratoga’s 61st season opening celebration. The early race at Malta has been titled Spring Shootout, which Chris Jakubiak won in 2025. In 2024 there were twin Spring Shootout features won by Tim Hartman Jr. and Chris Crane Jr.

The second points paying event for CDRA racers at Albany-Saratoga takes place during Stan Da’ Man night with the Flying Trowel 32 on July 24, 2026. Last season marked the first time a third PPE was added to the schedule from the great race place, and it was won by a red-hot Tim Hartman Jr.

Malta Massive weekend is a big one on the schedule for Capital District Sportsman Modified racers. These drivers want that race winning belt. It serves as the Great Crate Classic, which is a CDRA points paying event. It also features the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship series points event.

The Great Crate Classic, preceded by the Northeast Crate Nationals at Albany-Saratoga, will for the first time be a ‘Crown Jewel’ points paying event on September 25, 2026. Simply put, regular series races are 100 for a win, 97 for second, down by one to last. Crown Jewel events are 200 for a win, 197 for second, down by one.

Speaking of ‘Crown Jewel’ points paying events, the only other on the 2026 CDRA racing schedule happens early and it’s a popular one among drivers. On June 16, 2026, on the high banks in the valley of speed, Lebanon Valley Speedway has Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds in town which means Mr. Crate Track USA is in order.

Mr. Crate Track USA is a play on words off the main event for the Super DIRTcar Series Mr. Dirt Track event. There wasn’t a more perfect way to support such a big event, especially with it being earlier in the season for 2026. It will be a ‘Crown Jewel’ points paying event for CDRA Sportsman Modifieds.

It was previously won by Tim Hartman Jr. in 2025, however other winners do include Rob Maxon (2018), Michael Sabia (2017), Scott Duell (2016), and Michael Sabia (2015).

Each track plays a pivotal part in challenging drivers who want to earn a CDRA championship, and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park fits in perfectly. Albany-Saratoga has high speeds while racing like a short track, Lebanon Valley is a wide-open high bank adrenaline rush, and the Ridge is an elbows up reaction challenging madhouse of a quarter mile.

Glen Ridge is the race place drivers grind out their best finishes to increase their chances at a points championship. First visit to the fastest quarter mile on dirt is July 5, 2026, for the Montgomery County Brawl, which is also part of the DIRTcar Sportsman East Region for points. Previous winners of this event include Taylor Wason (2025) and Cody Ochs (2024).

CDRA returns to the ridge on August 9, 2026, for a second visit during the summer with the annual Rumble At The Ridge points paying event. This race will also serve as a DIRTcar Sportsman points event. Previous winners of the Rumble include Gavin Eisele (2025) and Zach Buff (2024).

“This year is going to be exciting. We have a great crop of drivers who are going to chase,” began CDRA competition director Rob Hazer.

He continued, “It’s going to feel a little different without Lyle DeVore’s guidance. He was a friend, a mentor, and a titan in this sport. But I can promise you, his legacy is in good hands with Marcy, Mia, and Pete making sure his vision comes to light.”

“I want to thank Marcy, Pete, and Mia from Albany-Saratoga. They’re going through a difficult transition without the bossman, but they’re doing it fabulously. I must thank Ron at Lebanon Valley also for keeping us in mind on the high banks, and Alicia and Ray at Glen Ridge. We’re all working together to put something on for racers,” Hazer spoke candidly.

He concluded by saying, “We’ll be releasing the new name of our championship trophy. It’ll be something that captures and embodies what Lyle stood for. That was important for me to do in his honor, and I owe Marcy a heartfelt thank you for allowing me to do that for the bossman.”

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: The season starts April 17, 2026 at Albany-Saratoga Speedway for CDRA racers. 25 laps for $1,300 to win on Malta’s 61st season opener. Before that, it’s car show season.

Capital District Track Champion Racer Zach Buff Continues To Be A CDRA Title Contender

09/18/25: Zach Buff (01) is a multi-time winner, champion, and title contender. Here he turns timed hot laps at Glen Ridge during Rumble At The Ridge. (Jeremy McGaffin Photo | CDRA 2025)

FONDA, NY – Buff boys have dominated the Ridge for the past five seasons. Big brother Andrew earned three track titles from 2021-2023 with 21 dubs before moving to the DIRTcar 358 Modified division. Now, little brother Zach is flexing his muscle with 17 wins, and just capped off his second consecutive title run. He also races in arguably the toughest Sportsman field weekly at Malta.

Zach Buff has been driving the Ray Sefrin owned West End Towing & Repair, Buff’s Auto Service, and DIG Racing Products 01 Bicknell for five seasons now. Since the day he started racing, he’s earned a Limited Sportsman championship, and followed that up with a pair of Sportsman Modified titles. But, there’s more to this potent pair.

If you add in the wins Zach has earned at Albany-Saratoga Speedway under the Friday Night Lights, this young man is closer to 30 career wins racing for Sefrin. As always, don’t take our word for it. Buff took time out of his busy schedule to tackle a few hot take questions starting with racing with Ray.

“I’ve been racing with Ray since I started. In 2020 I raced my brother’s car one time. The following season in 2021 I began racing in Limited Sportsman at both Albany-Saratoga and Glen Ridge,” Buff began saying. He finished his thoughts with, “Since then I’m not sure the exact number, but I’m sure we are around 30 wins total as a team”.

When you park it in victory lane, championships will happen. After all, you gain the most points possible. It’s just easier and Zach is thankful to have an opportunity to be championship caliber at both his weekly stomping grounds and on the DIRTcar Sportsman tour.

“Ray gives us great equipment. This year was my second Sportsman Modified championship. I also have one Limited Sportsman championship. I’ve won all three at Glen Ridge,” Buff said.

Zach comes from a talented family of racers. His father, Kevin, was an accomplished IMCA Modified racer before stepping aside for the kiddos to take the wheel. Surely there’s a little pressure to follow in the footsteps of his pops and big bro, but Zach seems content carving out his own path.

“My father got me into racing as soon as he could. Growing up he was obviously a big influence on me and my wanting to race. And I was also a big Kenny Tremont Jr. fan,” Zach said.

For two seasons Zach has been top five in JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA series point standings presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply. His only obstacle seems to be the Valley Of Speed. So, what keeps Buff away from the high banks? Let him answer.

He stated, “There’s no particular reason I don’t go to the Valley. Could be scheduling or availability. Nothing against the facility or anyone.”

It’s no doubt if Zach made his way to the valley of speed, he’d be slugging it out with fellow competitors Tim Hartman Jr. and Taylor Wason for a Capital District Racing Association crown. But, respect he has earned either way. He’s a winner, and a champion with one simple goal. Give it his all each and every race.

“I don’t necessarily have any goals set per say, because I like to take it one race at a time. Each race I give it my all and do the best I can,” said Buff proudly.

Gotta admire his efforts, but again that drive and racers ethic stems from proper upbringing in the sport. Poppa Kev has this kid on the right track to continued success and Zach makes sure to mention him first when giving thanks.

Buff said, “I definitely have to start with thanking my dad. The confidence he has in me is proven by the time and effort he puts into racing for me.” He concluded with, “I can’t forget Andrew either. My brother is one of the main reasons we are successful as we are. Finally, last but certainly not least, Ray Sefrin. He gives us great equipment, all the tools we need, and encourages us to have fun while racing.”

Zach also mentioned the support from friends and family drive him to compete at a high level and be a solid racer both on and off the track. Knowing a little about Zach and this brief conversation has proven, he’s a good kid with a good family, and a hall-of-fame car owner. Not hard to understand why they’re at the top of their game. If you want to win a title at The Ridge, history says you have to beat a Buff.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Focus is solely on the only points paying event left for Season Two (2025). The Great Crate Race at Albany-Saratoga Friday September 19th as part of the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Fall Championship Series. Someone will punch their ticket to CDRA title town Friday night.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. Drivers who do travel the Capitaland will earn hardware and some green for their efforts.

Defending CDRA Champion Taylor Wason Wins Montgomery County Brawl At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park

08/10/25: Taylor Wason in Scott Duell Marketing & Designs Victory Lane after winning the Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday. (Jeremy McGaffin Photo | CDRA 2025)

FULTONVILLE, NY – Last season Middlegrove, NY racer Taylor Wason punched his ticket to title town without a trip to victory lane. This season he once again finds himself in championship contention, but finally parked it in Scott Duell Marketing & Designs victory lane for his first career CDRA Sportsman Modified victory.

All signs pointed to a dominating night for Glenville, NY hot shoe Tim Hartman Jr. He turned the J-Tees Screen Printing fast time in hot laps and won the JAM Performance & Consulting heat race presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply, which put him on the pole for the 30-lap Montgomery County Brawl main event.

First turn, first lap, yellow-yellow-yellow. Hartman appeared to be on the wrong end of inadvertent contact that left the Kick Fly’s Quality Hemp Products, Bemiss Trucking, & Midtel Solutions number 22 facing the wrong direction. TH2 would regroup and tag on at the back of the field to begin his charge forward.

Up front it was all Taylor Wason. He wheeled his Lenihan Paving, Lake Auto Parts, & HICO Fabrication number 07w masterfully on a slick quarter mile bullring. The defending series champion led all 30 laps en route to his first CDRA points paying victory.

Leading the entire race wasn’t an easy task for Wason, as multi-time track champion and CDRA regular Zach Buff was runner up with his West End Towing & Repair, DIG Race Products, and Buff’s Auto Service number 01. Buff would try as he might, but found himself with a challenger late in the event.

The above-mentioned Tim Hartman Jr. was blazing a path through the field. By lap 24 Hartman had applied enough pressure to slip under Buff and take command of the runner up spot relegating Buff back to third.

Nick Brundige was quietly making his way in the 30-lap feature event. The Round Lake, NY racer is in the thick of the championship point battle and leads the Newcomer Of The Year standings with his Capital District Towing, Halfmoon Evergreen Property Maintenance, and Miller Motorsports number 916. Brundige would finish fourth by races end.

Rounding out the top five was Capital District young gun Tavien Blowers. The Caroga Lake, NY racer started the Brawl in a jingle with Hartman’s 22 and Tanner Warner’s number 78. Blowers rebounded to earn a respective finish, as he too is in the championship point battle.

NOTES: While it was a mellow Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge on Sunday August 10th, there are plenty of storylines to go around. Taylor Wason picked up his first CDRA points paying win and chipped away at Tim Hartman Jr’s point lead. Hartman Jr. rallied from a lap one incident to finish runner up heading to Lebanon Valley, a place he has dominated for the past three seasons. Nick Brundige has quietly made some noise, positioning himself top five in points and leads all drivers eligible for Newcomer Of The Year.

TITLE WATCH: Tim Hartman Jr. holds a 22-point lead over Talor Wason after 4 of 6 scheduled points paying events. The top two point earning drivers in Season Two (2025) now have victories to their credit this season. When they unload at Lebanon Valley Speedway Thursday August 28th for Mr. Crate Track USA, Wason will be trying to keep pace with Hartman at a track he currently has a five-race win streak at. Zach Buff isn’t mathematically out of the title hunt, but he’s got ground to make up.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: The series heads to West Lebanon, NY for a big show at Lebanon Valley Speedway on Thursday August 28th. CDRA will be part of the Mr. Dirt Track Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series event with the highly anticipated return of Mr. Crate Track USA.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. CDRA Race Day At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park For The Montgomery County Brawl

FULTONVILLE, NY – The fastest quarter mile on dirt, Glen Ridge Motorsports Park, is in action tonight hosting the JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA Racing series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply. The Montgomery County Brawl is part of NYSSCA night with a full card of racing including DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, Pro Stock, Mini Stock, Limited Sportsman, Street Stocks, and Sling Shots.

Originally scheduled to run back on June 1st along with the DIRTcar East Region Sportsman Modifieds, the Montgomery County Brawl needed a reschedule date. With the drivers in mind, August 10th was chosen so racers could take part in NYSSCA bonuses that are normally awarded when the organization is in house.

This will be the fourth appearance of the CDRA series at Glen Ridge, and the first time ever going back-to-back with points paying races at the Fultonville, NY dirt racing facility. Last week it was Gavin Eisele who bested Tavien Blowers and Tristan Ladouceur for the win. Other winners at the Ridge in CDRA action include Cody Ochs and Zach Buff.

Coming into Sunday August 10th, Tim Hartman Jr. has a 25-point lead over defending series champion Taylor Wason. Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald is tied in points for third with young gun Derrick McGrew Jr., while Zach Buff, Tavien Blowers, Nick Brundige, Chris Jakubiak, and Joey Scarborough round out the top ten-point earners thus far in 2025.

“Our point championship chases are totally unpredictable. They change every race. Someone moves up, someone falls down. The scheduling is something I have to do a better job on. The rain out threw me for a loop, but we had to get the race that rained out back in June rescheduled before we head to Lebanon at the end of the month,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: After the Montgomery County Brawl at the Ridge, CDRA heads to the high banks of Lebanon Valley Speedway on Thursday August 28th for Mr. Crate Track USA, as part of the annual Mr. Dirt Track Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified series event.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. Season two schedule consists of a diverse schedule at storied dirt tracks like the great race place, the fastest quarter mile on dirt, and the valley of speed. Drivers who do travel the Capitaland will earn hardware and some green for their efforts.

Gavin Eisele Wins CDRA Points Paying Thriller Over Tavien Blowers In An Instant Classic At Glen Ridge Motorsports Park

08/03/25: CDRA / DIRTcar Rumble At The Ridge winner Gavin Eisele (18) races with Camdin Cook (14) for qualifying position Sunday at Glen Ridge. (Bill McGaffin Photo | CDRA 2025)

FULTONVILLE, NY – Rumble At The Ridge didn’t disappoint, as an instant classic broke out between Gavin Eisele and Tavien Blowers in the 40-lap CDRA points paying race that also began the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship series. Eisele went on to claim the victory with Blowers the runner up.

If luck picked a driver to partner with Sunday night at the fastest quarter mile on dirt, Gavin Eisele was the guy. Per his own admission he wasn’t good to start the night. After his heat another driver was DQ’d for a spoiler, which moved Eisele to a redraw spot. The very last redraw spot, and without even picking a chip he was generously left the pole position to defend his race win from a year ago.

Lafargeville, NY racer Gavin Eisele with his Performance Automotive number 18e was joined by Alexandria, ON racer Tristian Ladouceur driving his Thompson Motorsports 92t and the pair led the 27-car field to the green, with Eisele taking the early race lead.

Behind Eisele, DIRTcar’s best were indeed rumbling, with Capital District hot shoes for position early in the feature event. Kingston, ON racer Jessica Power driving her Greenshield Pest Control 52 found herself battling with DIRTcar East Region champion and Capitaland top gun Zach Buff with his West End Towing & Repair 01.

Buff’s early race promise went sour fast, as he was the reason for the 40-lap event’s only caution after something went amiss causing him to slow and stop on lap seven. That would tighten the field up for a restart that would change the game.

On the restart the aforementioned Power was left to fend off the hard charging Caroga Lake, NY young gun Tavien Blowers with his O’Connor Trucking 43. He wasn’t alone as another Capital District talented racer Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald from Gansevoort, NY with his S&S Mobile RV Repair 88 was mixing it up with DIRTcar regular Tyler Corcoran of Central Square, NY.

By the midpoint of the event Eisele had reached lap traffic, which would play a factor in the outcome of the race. Blowers was hounding Ladouceur in traffic, until making his move to take second from him on lap 25. That set up a battle for the lead with Blowers tracking Eisele through traffic.

On lap 33, there was almost a Cinderella story. Tavien Blowers, who had been following Gavin Eisele through traffic, saw an opening and took the lead. He’d lead exactly three laps until Eisele took the lead back and claimed victory. Solid run for second by Blowers and Ladouceur would finish third.

Behind the lead trio, Capital District top wheelman Tim Hartman Jr. out of Glenville, NY worked his way from 10th to finish fourth when the checkered dropped with his Kick Fly’s Quality Hemp Products number 22. He was followed by Jessica Power who finished fifth, her best career effort at Glen Ridge to date.

Rounding out the top ten finishers were Central Square, NY racer Tyler Corcoran, Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald of Gansevoort, NY, Taylor Wason of Middlegrove, NY, Cornwall, ON racer Shane Pecore, and Fulton, NY racer Richard Murtaugh III.

“It’s pretty cool to get this car out and go to victory lane the first race with it,” Eisele said in victory lane. He continued saying, “I felt good. It’s just tough with the lap cars. Tavien passed me on the bottom, and then I knew where I needed to be. Once I got back by him, I knew I wasn’t leaving the bottom.”

CDRA series regular Tavien Blowers was excited about his performance in the runner up spot saying, “I don’t know if we could’ve been much better. Gavin is a little better at navigating traffic. We don’t normally run with a lot of lap cars. But this is the most fun I’ve had in a racecar.”

DIRTcar series regular Tristian Ladouceur rounded out the podium and said, “We had a really great car tonight. I just made a couple mistakes in lap traffic.”

NOTES: With his exciting second place finish in the CDRA Rumble At The Ridge, Tavien Blowers now has a pair of runner up finishes to his credit in points paying races. Last season he was 10th in overall standings and this year he’s on track to improve on that substantially. ‘Mikey Waggs’ aka Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald finished solidly in 7th in the Rumble. Waggs has established himself as a title contender in Season Two. Finally, Derrick McGrew Jr. finished 12th Sunday at The Ridge, but it’s his 3rd place standing in current CDRA points that will turn a few heads.

TITLE WATCH: Tim Hartman Jr. has emerged as the clear-cut point leader after Chris Jakubiak surrendered the top spot by missing the Ridge Rumble. Hartman will hold a 25-point lead heading back to Glen Ridge Sunday August 10th for another points paying series race. Defending CDRA champion Taylor Wason is back in the title conversation after another top ten finish. He took the checkered flag 8th in Rumble At The Ridge, which has officially moved him to second in points. Derrick McGrew Jr., Michael Wagner-Fitzgerald, Zach Buff, and Tavien Blowers are all within striking distance of the top spot with three points paying races left in CDRA Season Two.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: The series returns to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Sunday August 10th for the Montgomery County Brawl, which was originally scheduled for June 1st. It marks the second of back-to-back points paying races at the fastest quarter mile on dirt.

FULTONVILLE, NY – Tonight, at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series top talents collide with Capital District hot shoes for a JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA racing series points paying Rumble At The Ridge presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply and New Deal Used Cars. It’s part of a huge full night of racing at the fastest quarter mile on dirt.

New Deal Used Cars is presenting the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Championship tour, plus the weekly racing divisions including DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, DIRTcar Pro Stocks, DIRTcar Mini Stocks, and more. JAM Performance & Consulting, along with Elmo’s Speed Supply, present the CDRA racing series and have been gracious marketing partners.

Racing will follow the DIRTcar series format for the Sportsman Modifieds. Drivers will start with a draw through the back gate followed by timed hot laps, heat races, and last chance qualifiers to set the starting field for the 40-lap, $1,500 to win A-Main CDRA has titled Rumble At The Ridge.

The Ridge will host the CDRA Sportsman Modified Series for a third time tonight, Sunday August 3rd. Cody Ochs and Zach Buff have claimed CDRA points paying wins at the Fultonville, NY facility, while former track regular Taylor Wason is defending series champion. Tonight’s race is part of back-to-back PPR’s at Glen Ridge for CDRA title hopefuls.

Last season the Rumble At The Ridge for CDRA competitors was run on Hall Of Fame Classic night and saw Zach Buff visit Scott Duell Marketing & Designs victory lane driving his West End Towing & Repair, Dig Race Products, and Buff’s Auto Service Bicknell Racing Chassis number 01. Buff was joined by Caroga Lake, NY racer Tavien Blowers and Middlegrove, NY racer Taylor Wason on the podium.

Season Two (2025) points championship chase will certainly have a shakeup after the first of back-to-back CDRA points paying races at Glen Ridge. Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak is unsure if he’ll attend racing Sunday evening, but comes into the Rumble At The Ridge with a one-point lead over Glenville, NY hot shoe Tim Hartman Jr.

Race within a race is of course the hotly contested battle for the NOTY (Newcomer Of The Year). Right now Jakubiak stands to possibly earn that along with the series title, while he’s challenged by Canaan, CT racer Connor Crane, Johnsonville, NY racer Dave Baronowski, and Cambridge, NY racer Alex Palmer-Sawyer for the NOTY, who are all inside the top 10 in points.

“It’s going to be wild Sunday at the ridge. There will be a points shakeup guaranteed, because it’s not just a points paying race for us (CDRA), but it’s also the beginning of the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Championship fall series. So, their best will meet up with Capital District’s best for a bull-ring battle fans won’t want to miss,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: After Rumble At The Ridge tonight (Sunday August 3rd) CDRA returns to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park on Sunday August 10th for the Montgomery County Brawl, which was rescheduled from June 1st after rain washed out the night.

CDRA Begins Grueling Month Of August Racing Thanks To Mother Nature Going Back-To-Back At Glen Ridge Followed By Lebanon Valley

07/28/25: CDRA tour regular Tavien Blowers (43) races with Newcomer Of The Year contender Nick Brundige (916) for qualifying position at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. (Jeremy McGaffin Photo | CDRA 2025)

FONDA, NY – Mother Nature didn’t do anyone favors this season with many events getting forced to cancel or reschedule. The JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply wasn’t immune to rain delayed events, and now the chase for the 2025 Capital District Crown enters a Grueling mini ‘hell tour’ scenario that began Friday at the great race place.

The Montgomery County Brawl scheduled to be part of a co-promoted event at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park along with DIRTcar East Series racing, was washed out sadly. CDRA officials worked with Ridge officials to reschedule the event to Sunday August 10th. That sets up a unique situation for all involved going forward this season.

One week prior to the rescheduled Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge is the originally scheduled Rumble At The Ridge, which was set for Sunday August 3rd at the beginning of the year. It is part of the DIRTcar Sportsman Fall Series event at the fastest quarter mile on dirt. But that’s not where the CDRA’s mini ‘hell tour’ ends.

Just two weeks after the Rumble At The Ridge CDRA/DIRTcar Sportsman Series event is the highly anticipated return of Mr. Crate Track USA at Lebanon Valley Speedway on Thursday August 28th. It’s part of the Super DIRTcar Series Mr. DIRT Track USA event, which is one circled on a driver’s schedule in the spring as one of the most challenging events of the season.

So, when put together you have CDRA points paying races July 25th (Flying Trowel 32 at Albany-Saratoga Won By Tim Hartman Jr.), August 3rd (Rumble At The Ridge at Glen Ridge), August 10th (Montgomery County Brawl at Glen Ridge), and August 28th (Mr. Crate Track USA at Lebanon Valley). 4 points paying races in 5 weeks will test drivers and their will to win the Season Two (2025) championship.

After two races Chris Jakubiak leads the point standings with 206 and a win, but is just one point ahead of Tim Hartman Jr. who also has visited Scott Duell Marketing & Designs victory lane. Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough sits third in points with 198, with Dylan Madsen of Spencertown, NY fourth with 195, and Canaan, CT young gun and Newcomer Of The Year contender Connor Crane in fifth with 193.

“It’s crazy how it worked out, but we had to do it so we could get drivers at least six races for points and leave us as a series some space just in case we need to reschedule events prior to our season finale on September 19th during Malta Massive Weekend,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Focus shifts to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for a DIRTcar Sportsman Series event that doubles as a points paying race for CDRA competitors on Sunday August 3rd for a Rumble At The Ridge.

CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. CDRA Points Paying Race At Glen Ridge Squashed By Weather; Reschedule Date To Be Determined

FONDA, NY – Mother Nature is on a serious bender this season washing out racing in the Capital District on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday recently including the JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA points paying race presented by Elmo’s Speed Supply that would have been part of the DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified Series event at Glen Ridge.

Currently CDRA officials are holding tight awaiting a makeup date for the June 1st race that rained out. Once DIRTcar and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park officials agree on a date, CDRA will again attempt to tag along for a points paying race with the DIRTcar Sportsman East Series. Drivers want two PPR’s at The Ridge and work is being done behind the scenes to make sure that it is a reality.

Mother Nature has caused many tracks and series into rescheduling events in the Capital District, as she’s rained shows out or caused saturated grounds as the case this past Sunday at The Ridge for their weekly racing program. For CDRA the next points paying race on the schedule is a return run at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.

This season there are three points paying races at the great race place with the addition of the Flying Trowel 32, scheduled for Friday July 25th. The extra distance main event pays extra to the winner on a night to honor and remember track promoter Lyle DeVore’s father Stan. 32-laps in distance for CDRA racers paying $1,320 to win for Sportsman Modifieds on Stan Da’ Man night.

Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak continues to lead the points with fellow competitors Donovan Lussier, Joey Scarborough, Tim Hartman Jr. and Dylan Madsen completing the top five.

More details to come about the Flying Trowel 32 at Albany-Saratoga on July 25th as racers await the makeup date at Glen Ridge.

“Rain has really been crushing racing in the Capital District this year. Everywhere has had a really wet spring. Racers want to race, and fans want to spectate. We’re patiently waiting to hear from the fine folks at Glen Ridge on a makeup date so we can again tag along and/or team up next to the DIRTcar East Sportsman Series event. For now, we’re looking forward to our second of three points races in Malta, NY this season,” said competition director Rob Hazer.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Back to Albany-Saratoga Speedway for another points paying race as Sportsman Modified racers compete on Stan Da’ Man night. 32-lap main event paying $1,320 to win for the second of three points paying races on the CDRA schedule at the great race place.

Chris Jakubiak Wants To Win CDRA Title, But Question Is Will Time Be On His Side To Race Sunday At The Ridge

05/29/25: Chris Jakubiak celebrates a Spring Shootout CDRA Sportsman Modified win in victory lane at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. (Bill McGaffin Photo / CDRA 2025)

FONDA, NY – Chris Jakubiak stormed to victory at Albany-Saratoga Speedway back on April 18th in the CDRA points opener. That put him in the point lead where he’d like to stay to face the challenges of racing at Glen Ridge and Lebanon Valley, two places he’s never raced before. But with a minimal crew and busy work schedule he will have to see if time permits his championship chase.

After conversation between Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak and JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA competition director Rob Hazer, it was learned he’s never turned laps at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park or Lebanon Valley Speedway to date in his career. Jakubiak will have to balance work, resources, and home life to make all six points paying races.

The CQC Painting, Vertex Property Management, and HD Concrete Construction Inc. series winner has Sunday June 1st circled on his schedule of racing events for his first trip to Glen Ridge when DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified Series comes to Fultonville, NY and again serves as a CDRA Series points paying race. All Jakubiak needs is time to prepare and participate.

So, what if point leader Chris Jakubiak is unable to make the next points paying race due to work commitments? It means there would be a shake up in the point standings, which isn’t new for the CDRA series presented in part by Elmo’s Speed Supply.

St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC racer Donovan Lussier currently holds down the runner up spot, however it’s doubtful he’s chasing Capital District titles considering he wasn’t at the great race place the last time they raced at the Malta, NY facility.

Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough is an unknown despite currently holding down third in points. Chances are if he rolls into The Ridge on June 1st with his Central Vermont Motorcycles, Quality Property Management, and How Center Auto Brandon Bandit Papi owned Bicknell Racing Chassis, then he’s chasing the crown.

Tim Hartman Jr. likes victory lane so much he’s made a habit of parking his Service Master Restore, Irish Trucking, and Bemiss Trucking Service Mike Parillo owned DKM Cyclone Chassis number 22 there. Already a regular at both Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley, if Hartman races a pair of events at The Ridge his name will be in the title conversation.

Spencertown, NY hot shoe Dylan Madsen holds down the fifth spot in CDRA points currently. He loves to wheel and is capable of capturing a championship, so his peers wait eagerly to see if he shows up to live life on the ridge Sunday.

Some other names to keep an eye on for title town or newcomer of the year are Chris and Connor Crane, Cody Ochs, Taylor Wason, Derrick McGrew Jr., Nick Brundige, and Tavien Blowers. The rest of the drivers currently with points are unknown at this tme.

UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Points paying race number two Sunday June 1st at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for CDRA competitors that is also a DIRTcar Sportsman East Series event. We’ve titled this event Quarter Mile Mayhem for 2025.
