FONDA, NY โ Mother Nature is on a serious bender this season washing out racing in the Capital District on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday recently including the JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA points paying race presented by Elmoโs Speed Supply that would have been part of the DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified Series event at Glen Ridge.
Currently CDRA officials are holding tight awaiting a makeup date for the June 1st race that rained out. Once DIRTcar and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park officials agree on a date, CDRA will again attempt to tag along for a points paying race with the DIRTcar Sportsman East Series. Drivers want two PPRโs at The Ridge and work is being done behind the scenes to make sure that it is a reality.
Mother Nature has caused many tracks and series into rescheduling events in the Capital District, as sheโs rained shows out or caused saturated grounds as the case this past Sunday at The Ridge for their weekly racing program. For CDRA the next points paying race on the schedule is a return run at Albany-Saratoga Speedway.
This season there are three points paying races at the great race place with the addition of the Flying Trowel 32, scheduled for Friday July 25th. The extra distance main event pays extra to the winner on a night to honor and remember track promoter Lyle DeVoreโs father Stan. 32-laps in distance for CDRA racers paying $1,320 to win for Sportsman Modifieds on Stan Daโ Man night.
Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak continues to lead the points with fellow competitors Donovan Lussier, Joey Scarborough, Tim Hartman Jr. and Dylan Madsen completing the top five.
More details to come about the Flying Trowel 32 at Albany-Saratoga on July 25th as racers await the makeup date at Glen Ridge.
โRain has really been crushing racing in the Capital District this year. Everywhere has had a really wet spring. Racers want to race, and fans want to spectate. Weโre patiently waiting to hear from the fine folks at Glen Ridge on a makeup date so we can again tag along and/or team up next to the DIRTcar East Sportsman Series event. For now, weโre looking forward to our second of three points races in Malta, NY this season,โ said competition director Rob Hazer.
UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Back to Albany-Saratoga Speedway for another points paying race as Sportsman Modified racers compete on Stan Daโ Man night. 32-lap main event paying $1,320 to win for the second of three points paying races on the CDRA schedule at the great race place.
CDRA is a nostalgic throwback to the CVRA days. A series designed specifically for Capital District racing. Season two schedule consists of a diverse schedule at storied dirt tracks like the great race place, the fastest quarter mile on dirt, and the valley of speed. Drivers who do travel the Capitaland will earn hardware and some green for their efforts.

05/29/25: Chris Jakubiak celebrates a Spring Shootout CDRA Sportsman Modified win in victory lane at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. (Bill McGaffin Photo / CDRA 2025)
FONDA, NY โ Chris Jakubiak stormed to victory at Albany-Saratoga Speedway back on April 18th in the CDRA points opener. That put him in the point lead where heโd like to stay to face the challenges of racing at Glen Ridge and Lebanon Valley, two places heโs never raced before. But with a minimal crew and busy work schedule he will have to see if time permits his championship chase.
After conversation between Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak and JAM Performance & Consulting CDRA competition director Rob Hazer, it was learned heโs never turned laps at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park or Lebanon Valley Speedway to date in his career. Jakubiak will have to balance work, resources, and home life to make all six points paying races.
The CQC Painting, Vertex Property Management, and HD Concrete Construction Inc. series winner has Sunday June 1st circled on his schedule of racing events for his first trip to Glen Ridge when DIRTcar East Sportsman Modified Series comes to Fultonville, NY and again serves as a CDRA Series points paying race. All Jakubiak needs is time to prepare and participate.
So, what if point leader Chris Jakubiak is unable to make the next points paying race due to work commitments? It means there would be a shake up in the point standings, which isnโt new for the CDRA series presented in part by Elmoโs Speed Supply.
St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC racer Donovan Lussier currently holds down the runner up spot, however itโs doubtful heโs chasing Capital District titles considering he wasnโt at the great race place the last time they raced at the Malta, NY facility.
Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough is an unknown despite currently holding down third in points. Chances are if he rolls into The Ridge on June 1st with his Central Vermont Motorcycles, Quality Property Management, and How Center Auto Brandon Bandit Papi owned Bicknell Racing Chassis, then heโs chasing the crown.
Tim Hartman Jr. likes victory lane so much heโs made a habit of parking his Service Master Restore, Irish Trucking, and Bemiss Trucking Service Mike Parillo owned DKM Cyclone Chassis number 22 there. Already a regular at both Albany-Saratoga and Lebanon Valley, if Hartman races a pair of events at The Ridge his name will be in the title conversation.
Spencertown, NY hot shoe Dylan Madsen holds down the fifth spot in CDRA points currently. He loves to wheel and is capable of capturing a championship, so his peers wait eagerly to see if he shows up to live life on the ridge Sunday.
Some other names to keep an eye on for title town or newcomer of the year are Chris and Connor Crane, Cody Ochs, Taylor Wason, Derrick McGrew Jr., Nick Brundige, and Tavien Blowers. The rest of the drivers currently with points are unknown at this tme.
UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Points paying race number two Sunday June 1st at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for CDRA competitors that is also a DIRTcar Sportsman East Series event. Weโve titled this event Quarter Mile Mayhem for 2025.

05/01/25: Dylan Madsen (89) and Donovan Lussier (61L) race for top five finishing positions at Albany-Saratoga Speedway during the Spring Shootout back in April. (Showstopper Photo / CDRA 2025)
FONDA, NY โ Season Two of the JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series presented by Elmoโs Speed Supply has one points paying race on the scoreboard and the top five are all new title contending names including Chris Jakubiak, Donovan Lussier, Joey Scarborough, Tim Hartman Jr., and Dylan Madsen.
Chris Jakubiak: Noticing up and coming Sportsman Modified talent in the Capital District couldnโt be done without mentioning Chris Jakubiak. Heโs gone from Limited Sportsman prospect to CDRA series winner and title contender wheeling his CQC Painting, Vertex Property Management, and HD Concrete Construction Bicknell Racing Chassis number 49.
Donovan Lussier: The country of Canada is currently represented in CDRA point standings thanks to St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC racer Donovan Lussier. The defending Airborne Speedway Sportsman Modified champ โwent hard in the paintโ to secure the runner up spot in standings with his Remorquage Boissonneault, SD Performance Mechanique, and Metal Express Bicknell Racing Chassis number 61L.
Joey Scarborough: Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough is carrying on father Donโs legacy of contending for podiums and wins. He was battle ready fighting all feature long for heavily contested positions inside the top five with his family-owned Central Vermont Motorcycles, Quality Property Management, and Howe Center Auto Bicknell Racing Chassis number 11VT.
Tim Hartman Jr: Big time little Tim was the winningest Sportsman Modified driver in the Capitaland last season, and heโs already been to victory lane in 2025. Hartman was hot and heavy into the loud pedal charging to fourth after one PPR. He is easily a title contender driving the Kick Flyโs Quality Hemp Products, Doug Wholey Ideal Excavating, and Bemiss Trucking Service Mike Parillo owned DKM Cyclone Chassis number 22.
Dylan Madsen: From the outside looking in, this kid loves to race. Madsen utilized a series of solid moves to earn a top five CDRA finish, where he currently sits in points. He used that momentum to propel himself to a weekly win driving his Madsen Overhead Doors, Riberdy Contracting, and Fox Hill Campgrounds Bicknell Racing Chassis number 89.
Hard Luck: Last season Amsterdam, NY racer Zach Buff was a CDRA title contender with his West End Towing & Repair, Dig Racing Products, and Buffโs Auto Service Ray Sefrin owned Bicknell Racing Chassis number 01. This season he was notably frustrated with a DNF and scored 28th in the finishing order to start. But the series is headed to The Ridge next where heโs a championship winner. Only 34 points out of first, this is where he could bounce back.
UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Focus shifts to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for a DIRTcar Sportsman East Series event on Sunday June 1st that doubles as a CDRA points paying race dubbed Quarter Mile Mayhem.

04/19/25: Chris Jakubiak earned his first CDRA points paying win at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. (Rocky Photography / RPW 2025)
MALTA, NY โ Albany-Saratoga Speedway hosted the 2025 JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series points championship opener presented by Elmoโs Speed Supply, as part of their Super DIRTcar Series 60th Season kickoff program where Ballston Spa, NY racer Chris Jakubiak was victorious taking home the Cordova Plumbing and Heating winners loot and the series point lead.
55 of the Capital Districts most talented Sportsman Modified racers met up at the Malta, NY great race place to slap clay and claim victory. After Tyler Rapp, Chris Jakubiak, Joey Scarborough, Jon Miller, and Bryce Breault won qualifying heats and Taylor Wason with Zach Buff won last chance qualifiers the field was set for the 25-lap Spring Shootout.
Chris Jakubiak wasted no time putting his CQC Painting 49 in the lead over Tyler Rappโs Trinity Construction Inc. 2a. That left Bennington, VT racer Joey Scarborough with his Central Vermont Motorcycles 11vt to battle with Spencertown, NY racer Dylan Madsen, Malta, NY racer Jon Miller, and Queensbury, NY racer Bryce Breault for top five positions.
St-Denis-sur-Richelieu, QC racer and Airborne champion Donovan Lussier was making moves using the high side early to improve from his 7th starting position wheeling his Remorquage Boissonneault 61L battling with Albany, NY racer Jeff Washburn and his R. Bowles Heating | Plumbing 18 car.
By the 1/3 mark of the feature event, it was clear Jakubiak had a bad fast race rod. That didnโt stop Eagle Ridge, NY racer Mike Benson with his Sausville Benson Financial 33b from waging war through the field with a hard charging Glenville, NY racer Tim Hartman Jr. driving his Kick Fly’s Quality Hemp Products 22 Cyclone.
In the mid portion of the race there were multiple 3-car battles going on including one between Lussier, Millerโs Lazzaro Auto Body 12 car, and the Advanced Auto Parts 2b of Bryce Breault. All that action wasnโt slowing defending Albany-Saratoga champion Hartman Jr. from applying pressure.
Just as Jakubiak hit lap traffic, Rapp made contact with the inside retaining wall in turn one that resulted in a flat left front and a subsequent yellow flag on lap 14.
The restart didnโt treat some drivers well, as inadvertent contact between Canaan, CT racer Chris Crane Jr. and Ballston Spa, NY racer Dan Grignon resulted in a multicar accident that left Amsterdam, NY racer Zach Buff unhappy with a heavily damaged West End Towing & Repair 01 racecar.
In the closing laps Jakubiak ran away and parked it in Scott Duell Marketing Designs victory lane, while Lussier hounded Scarborough eventually taking over the runner up position. Hartman Jr. crossed the finish line 4th, with the Madsen Overhead Doors 89 of Dylan Madsen completed the top five.
Rounding out the top ten were Canaan, CT racer Connor Crane, Jon Miller, Voorheesville, NY racer Pat Jones, Rensselaer, NY racer Cody Ochs, and Bryce Breault.
NOTES: The car count was healthy, crowd huge, and racing action packed. Canaan, VT racer Connor Crane drove his Crane’s Outdoor Power Equipment 711c impressively from 15th to 6th. Voorheesville, NY racer Pat Jones had a solid run from 18th to 8th. Finally, itโs rare a Sportsman Modified race in the Capital District doesnโt have a Tim Hartman Jr. mention. He made daring moves sometimes 3-deep to climb from 13th to 4th.
TITLE WATCH: Defending CDRA champion Taylor Wason had to dig himself out of a hole, and did so respectively winning an LCQ with his Lenihan Paving 07w and finishing 14th by races end. All eyes are on Chris Jakubiak now, who sits atop the series standings after points paying race one. However, only 6 points separate the top five drivers.
UP NEXT FOR CDRA: Focus shifts to Glen Ridge Motorsports Park for a DIRTcar Sportsman East Series event on Sunday June 1st that doubles as a CDRA points paying race dubbed Quarter Mile Mayhem.

MALTA, NY โ The 2025 JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series points championship presented by Elmoโs Speed Supply officially begins tonight April 18th at โthe great race placeโ Albany-Saratoga Speedway for Sportsman Modifieds as part of a huge 60th season kickoff featuring the Super DIRTcar Series Big Blocks.
Cordova Plumbing & Heating is presenting the $1,060 to win main event for Sportsman Modifieds, which will include hot laps, heat races, and last chance qualifiers to set the starting field for the race CDRA has titled the Spring Shootout.
For the CDRA Sportsman Modified Series itโs the third appearance at the Malta, NY dirt racing facility. Last spring a special format was used that offered a pair of 26-lap main events in tribute to the late hall of fame journalist Don Davies, which were part of a Super DIRTcar Series Big Block program.
Feature number one saw Tim Hartman Jr. Snatch victory from the clutches of Craig Wholey. The remainder of the top ten were Taylor Wason, Travis Whitbeck, Peyton Talbot, Cody Ochs, Drew Cormie, Bryce Breault, Dominic Roselli, and Brendan Gibbons.
In the second feature last June it was a popular win by Chris Crane Jr. who bested podium finishers Dylan Madsen and Richard Murtaugh. Rounding out the top ten were Max Dolliver, Joey Scarborough, Mike Coffey Jr., Cody Bleau, Connor Crane, Travis Green, and Jon Miller.
Defending series champion Taylor Wason will be in action to begin his title defense against a stacked field of talents that includes young guns, newcomers, and veterans all chasing a points championship.
The great race place held an open practice Tuesday April 15th where drivers had an opportunity to lay down laps. In session one it was Chris Jakubiak fastest with a lap time of 16.707. Session two saw Joey Scarborough top the board with a 16.904 lap time. In session three Scarborough was again quick with a 17.191 lap time. Final session saw Derrick McGrew Jr. top the leaderboard with a lap time of 17.388.
โIโm still on a long journey to recovery from a pretty serious health scare that has been the toughest fight of my life, but that has not deterred my dedication to CDRA project, the people helping, the tracks, and the drivers. My determination and dedication remain high for all involved,โ said competition director Rob Hazer.

FONDA, NY โ Known as the high side hustler behind the wheel, Scott Duell is using his knowledge of dirt track racing and education in graphic design to blaze his own entrepreneurial trail after creating his own company Scott Duell Marketing and Designs LLC adding to the Duell Family Racing legacy in the Capital District.
SD (Scott Duell) Marketing and Designs LLC is joining the JAM Performance CDRA Racing Series presented by Elmoโs Speed Supply as an integral part of the design and marketing process through their innovative ideas stemming from race car wraps to social media campaigns.
After working years for others while his family continued to grow with wife Jade, two daughters Peyton and Parker, and another bundle of joy on the way this clay pounding poppa needed to make his own hours.
โIโve been in the design and marketing world for over 15 years. About a year ago I decided it was time for my own business. So, Duell Marketing & Designs was launched and about a year later the boat is still afloat,โ said SD proprietor Scott Duell.
His skills are limitless specializing in graphic design, marketing, custom helmet artwork, racecar wraps, social media, and more.
โLike the Days Of Thunder saying, thereโs nothing I canโt do with design and marketing,โ Duell said.
He concluded with, โIf you have a company that needs a rebrand, a racer who needs a social media presence, or even a well put together sponsor presentation then I can do those things as well.โ
SD Designs and Marketing LLC is truly a one stop shop for racers or businesses who want a professional look with a personal touch that is guaranteed to catch the eye.
โIโve known Scott for nearly 20 years. Like Chris (Recker) heโs always been supportive of projects I work on and willing to get involved. Iโm glad heโs part of CDRA and weโll get him working on some new designs for the upcoming season and who knows, maybe a sweet championship custom helmet,โ said Rob Hazer, CDRA competition director.

โIโve been keeping busy setting up season two while I recover and rehab from a serious health complication that put me down last July,โ said CDRA competition director Rob Hazer.
He continued by saying, โWith Malta celebrating 60 years, we wanted to do a little extra there. So, I appreciate the opportunity Lyle gave us. I also appreciate Ray from the Ridge and Ron from Lebanon for their continued support of CDRA. They all were understanding, had kind words of encouragement, and were excited to see the project continuing.โ
Season Two will be a wild chase for the championship, and expect the challenge for defending champion Taylor Wason to be extreme. Itโs a lucrative six race regional series sure to bring out the toughest Sportsman Modified competitors in the Capitaland.
โWeโre just doing our thing and continuing to inject positivity in our areaโs racing scene. Iโm glad folks continue to enjoy. Thatโs the only reward we need,โ concluded Rob Hazer.
